Measuring your dog for a muzzle & size Step 1: Measure the length of the snout. Measure the dog's snout length. This should be from 1-2cm below the eyes to the tip of the nose This should be taken along the top of the dog's nose as shown below. Step 2: Measure the circumference of the snout. Measure the circumference of the snout as the widest point. This should be done again 1-2cm below the eyes, wrapped all the way around the snout with the mouth closed. Step 3: Allow for pant room. You must allow for an extra 2-3cm on each side of the muzzle (4-6 cm total). This is so your dog can open their mouth to pant breathe and bark as needed.
